Measuring seven metres in diameter, the moon features 120dpi detailed NASA imagery of the lunar surface. At an approximate scale of 1:500,000, each centimetre of the internally lit spherical sculpture represents 5km of the moon’s surface*.
Museum of the Moon was presented over the lake near the castle in Lienz Austria during the Olala International Street Theater Festival. Thousands of people gathered at dusk around the moon as its glow began to reflect beautifully in the lake.
On its way to Austria the The Museum of the Moon got lost by the shipping company. News spread across the world of the ‘lost moon’. Luckily through an international search #findthemoon, the shipment was found and the show went on.
